Mondays and Wednesdays require me to wake up at 5:30am. Lame. I have class in Downtown at 8am, but because of Miami's awesome {insert sarcasm} traffic I have to leave my home at 6:25am. This super awesome {insert more sarcasm} class is called WARP (I've mentioned it before in previous blogs).
Some background info: WARP is like a studio workshop class. We're assigned about 7 or 8 projects for the semester that require us students to make 3D/Conceptual art. Before this class I never planned on making anything of the sort, but now that I've dabbled in it a bit... I dare say that I like it. Its a bit stressful and I still hate the class (mainly because I have to wake up early) but I think it really helps students think differently. Our class is huge-about 42 students, so critiques aren't always 100% helpful. Some students get more out of it than others-which is fine. To each his own. This class will on occasion go on class trips to various art galleries in the area. Today we visited the
Bernice Steinbaum Gallery &
The Rubell Family Collection. The second floor of the Bernice Steinbaum had a lot of interesting art. I didn't get the names of the artists because I was rushed because of time constraints. BUT--here's an image from one of my favorite pieces...

Here are some images from the Rubell's... Some Jeff Koons and Andy Warhol (I assume because there were no labels for the pieces, since everything was in the process of being set up).

All in all, it was a good day to be in the Warp class. We got some exposure. Always a good thing. But I was pretty tired and decided to lie down for a minute...
